Laninamivir octanoate-d3 (CS-8958-d3) is the deuterium labeled Laninamivir octanoate. Laninamivir octanoate (CS-8958), a prodrug of Laninamivir, is a long-acting neuraminidase (NA) inhibitor with anti-influenza virus activity. Laninamivir octanoate shows anti-influenza activity against Oseltamivir-resistant viruses, and also against the pandemic influenza viruses^[1][2].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
