Benfotiamine-d5 is the deuterium labeled Benfotiamine. Benfotiamine (S-Benzoylthiamine O-monophosphate) is an analog of vitamin B1 with higher absorption and bioavailability than vitamin B1, and is commonly used as a food supplement for diabetic complications. Benfotiamine exhibits direct antioxidative capacity and prevents induction of DNA damage^[1][2].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
